I believe every little girl dreams of getting married amongst the company of playful monkeys, tall giraffes and snorty rhinoceroses, but few are cool enough to make it a reality. Well Megan (with the help of her sweet mom and grandma!) planned a beautiful wedding that overlooked a grassy savannah of rhinos and other African wildlife at the Brevard Zoo. So far this year has been filled with so many fun and unique wedding venues, and this wedding may top the list in the fun department. I have to admit I freaked out a bit when the lorikeet birds attacked me, but it was worth it to get the cute photo of the love birds kissing while holding their own love birds.

After you’ve shot over 100 weddings, you start to think you’ve seen it all; from sweet surprise serenades, to drunken best man speeches to failed sparkler exits. At Rachel & Eric’s wedding, we saw yet another first. Something that made us, everyone in the audience and especially the bride’s jaw drop during the ceremony. Located on the wooden deck area of the beach in Melbourne, it was time for the best man to hand the ring to the groom. As he grabbed the box out of his pocket, the ring popped out and bounced a few times on the deck. Everyone held their breath hoping it didn’t fall in between the cracks into the deep dark abyss below, never to be seen again. Luckily it landed on a plank, and he exclaimed, “It’s alright! I got it!” and everyone sighed with relief. So he reached down to pick it up, and next thing you know, he fumbled it and it bounced around… again. This time, it fell through the crack. Now, as a photographer, do you stop taking pictures at this point? Or keep going? You never know, they may want to look back at this and laugh, right? Luckily all ended well, her dad exclaimed, “Don’t worry, I’m a dentist” and was able to retrieve the ring from the crack, just like he extracts decay from a deep cavity. Rachel had a great sense of humor about everything, even with the random gale force winds that descended on their wedding she maintained a bright and cheery attitude that matched her happy and colorful wedding colors perfectly. Jill with Pink Pelican Florist did a lovely job with the beach themed floral designs as usual.

Howdy ya’ll! So excited to see Gabrielle & Paul‘s beautiful grey & pink wedding at the Casa Feliz in Winter Park featured on the always darlin’ Southern Weddings blog!
